Crashed 09/10/43, into channel near Kalimna Hotel Lakes Entrance VIC.
Aircraft tail struck the water when pulling out of a dive.
Crew; FLGOFF D.W. Adams 467384 (pilot), SGT G.R. Rimes 424278 (Observer), SGT W.W. Baker 424553 (WAG) and SGT O.E. Coleman 424489 (WAG) survived crash.
A9-302 Served with 8 Sqn and 6 Sqn.
Struck by lightning or anti-aircraft fire and ditched 23/11/44, Collingwood Bay during a strike on Rabaul.
Crew; FLTLT A P Wymond (pilot), FLTLT Barry Blackstone (navigator) and FLTSGT Gordon Waters and Max Williams (WAGS)ditched into the sea.
The crew, who had suffered minor injuries, managed to get out of the aircraft and into their dinghy.
They were rescued by a native dugout canoe which towed them back to the shore.
The following morning they were met by a large outrigger canoe that had set out from Tufi, a small remote ANGAU base.
Four hours later they arrived at Tufi, and were fortunate enough to make contact with a US patrol boat which took the crew to Milne Bay.
